Chemical Engineering and Chemistry.

Our degree programmes enable us to consider applicants from a wide range of subject backgrounds. The entrance requirements differ for each programme, which allows us a greater flexibility in making individual decisions.

Although the usual entry qualifications are for Chemistry and Mathematics at A or AS Level, we welcome applications from students offering alternative qualifications such as:

      • The European or International Baccalaureate
      • Scottish Certificate of Education

      • Irish Leaving Certificate
      • Advanced GNVQ
      • BTEC Higher or National Certificate or Diploma
      • Access

Foundation Programmes

Many of our degree programmes can be taken with a Year Zero (foundation year). These programmes are designed for students without traditional entry qualifications or who would benefit from an extra preparatory year. Some of our Foundation Programmes are specifically designed for mature students. Please contact our Tutors for more details.

The Year Zero is specifically tailored to give you the skills and knowledge base to be successful on our main programmes. It is taught at Matthew Boulton College of Further and Higher Education, about one and a half miles from the University. Students on these programmes are full members of the University student community and able to benefit from University facilities.

Applications for Year Zero Programmes should be made through UCAS.

For advice on entry requirements and Admissions Tutors, details are listed in the adjacent panel.
